Trametinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as hydroxychloroquine, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Jan 31, 2019 Trametinib and Hydroxychloroquine in Treating Patients With Pancreatic Cancer THREAD The safety and scientific validity of this study is the responsibility of the study sponsor and investigators. Listing a study does not mean it has been evaluated by the U. S. Federal Government. The therapy would use a combination of two FDA Food and Drug Administration approved drugs that are currently being used for other types of cancer – namely trametinib and hydroxychloroquine.

The results of the study were published in the latest issue of the journal The team has opened up the therapy for clinical trials at HCI as well as other centres across United States along with support from University of California, San Francisco, and Columbia University in New York. The therapy has shown promise in the laboratory set up and now is ready for use among human patients in its clinical trials.

Dabrafenib, Trametinib and Hydroxychloroquine in Patients With Advanced BRAF Mutant Melanoma BAMM The safety and scientific validity of this study is the responsibility of the study sponsor and investigators. Fig. 4 Treatment of a pancreatic cancer patient with trametinib plus hydroxychloroquine T/HCQ led to a reduction in tumor marker cancer antigen 19-9 CA19-9 and overall tumor burden. Finally, the observed anti-tumor effects of combination trametinib plus chloroquine were observed against a NRAS mutated melanoma and a BRAF mutated colorectal patient-derived xenografts. These data may warrant testing this combination therapy in patients with KRAS mutated pancreatic cancers, a disease for which new pathway-targeted therapies.
