    Plaquenil toxicity after stopping

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

I had to stop Plaquenil after a few days. I couldn't walk, was dizzy, my speech was slurred, blurry vision, etc. but, I'm the one who usually gets side effects. I know people who Plaquenil has worked wonders. The side effects cleared up within a week. I also have Sjorgens, and my eyes were dryer on Plaquenil, but the blurry vision was the worst. Over the years on this site we have had quite a few people post that they didn't think that the plaquenil was working so they would stop taking it.

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

If you're gonna experiment, I went off it cold turkey as it didn't hurt to do it that way, but you better get back on before the summer or you could experience a flare-up. May 07, 2012 The only thing that helped was stopping the plaquenil after feeling better and some time I thought I’d try it again after a flare. About a month in body feels itchy can’t get comfortable after stopping the 200mg a day my anxiety is scary never felt this bad the only thing I’ve found to help is benadryl it relaxes my body.
